Minutes:  Cheryl Schneider moved the minutes for the May 22, 2007, meetings be approved, and Steve McCafferty seconded the motion.  The motion passed.

Treasurer’s Report:  The July 16, 2007, statement shows a balance of $34,797 with hidden assets of $8,850 for prepaid items, for a total of $43,647.  The June Sectional profit was $683.  John Westinghouse presented the audit statement Bill Lipton prepared for the year ending June 30, 2007.  Linda Rice moved the treasurer’s report be approved, and Lenore Smart seconded the motion.  The motion passed.  We thanked John all his excellent work for and dedication to COBA.

Elections:  Mark Bullimore presented a list of 9 board members for 2007-2008:  Suman Agarwal, John Fleeman, Robert Jiobu, Steve McCafferty, Russell Peffers, Kathryn Pyant, Linda Rice, Cheryl Schneider, and Lenore Smart.  Mark said Jeanne Griffin is willing to join the board and be treasurer if needed.  He told us that since we did not have the entire board elected at the general meeting, we must elect officers, and then the president will appoint the 3 additional board members needed, including Jeanne.  Lenore Smart moved, and Steve McCafferty seconded the motion, that we suspend the election until next meeting.  We will meet and come up with a slate of officers before then.  Since we need someone to write checks, Cheryl Schneider moved and Lenore Smart seconded that John Westinghouse, with his consent, will continue as treasurer until we have elections.

2007 Flying Buckeye Regional Tournament:  Cheryl Schneider asked any board member staying overnight to help in the hospitality room after the evening sessions.  She and Roger will complete work on the tournament during the next two weeks.  Mark Bullimore will not be at the tournament, so we will have to make arrangements to transport the tables he stores for us.  The COBA Directories will be distributed at the tournament.

June 8-10 Sectional Tournament:  We briefly discussed the problems with not having enough coffee or water at the Swiss teams on Sunday.  We also need more board members to attend and work at the tournaments, or we need to hire it done.

October 19-21 Sectional Tournament:  Mark Bullimore will be tournament chair and Caddy chair; Lenore Smart will be hospitality chair; and Linda Rice will be partnership chair.  Linda Rice has been working on a list of hotels and restaurants to have available for out-of-town guests, and she hopes to have the list ready by October.

Larry Cohen Seminar:  Cheryl Schneider said 96 people would be attending the all day seminar presented by Larry Cohen on Tuesday, July 17, 2007.  They will have doughnuts during registration from 9:30 to 10:00 and a lunch of subs and beans at 1:30.

Card Machine:  This topic was tabled, as Mark Bullimore and Mike Hill have yet to report back to us.

New Business:  Beth Reid, from Louisville, Kentucky, contacted John Westinghouse.  She is running to replace Jim Reiman as representative for our District on the ACBL board and wants to introduce herself to our board at the Flying Buckeye tournament.  Joyce Penn is also running for this position.  It was suggested John ask her to send us a picture and any written material she has.  We will also ask Joyce for these.

The next meeting will be Tuesday, August 14, at 5:30 p.m. at the Columbus Bridge Center

Kathryn Pyant moved the meeting be adjourned, and Cheryl Schneider seconded the motion.  The motion passed.

Respectively submitted by Linda O. Rice, Recording Secretary.
